David Miller, FEMA’s associate administrator of the Federal Insurance and Mitigation Administration, will brief a group of local mayors, city council representatives, county commissioners and other invited guests today on changes to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) brought on by the Biggert-Waters Act.
The meeting at Five Rivers Delta this afternoon gives local officials a chance to talk with Miller about provisions of the act affecting our Coastal Alabama communities now and in the future. Changes intended to financially stabilize NFIP could mean significant rate increases for many policyholders and negatively impact our coastal economy.
