We have released a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for a team of experienced consultants to create a regional strategic plan for Mobile and Baldwin counties. The final product will guide the leadership of our Coastal Alabama communities in making informed decisions about infrastructure, economic development and other issues that affect the future of our region.
This plan is the crux of our organization’s mission in championing collaboration among our business and governmental leaders. We have found that our strength comes from merging the common goals of our region rather than working independently of each other.
The population of our two counties—with more than 600,000 residents—accounts for 12 percent of the state’s entire population. If combined as a metropolitan statistical area (MSA), we would rank as the second largest in Alabama. Coastal Alabama also accounts for one-third of all travel spending in the state.
The deadline for responding to the RFQ is April 4. A pre-submittal conference call for potential proposers is scheduled for Thursday, March 13. Anyone interested in participating in that call should contact me at 251-363-2175 or wiley@72.249.150.161.
Because of the diverse skill sets that we anticipate as necessary to complete the tasks specified in this RFQ, we expect to assemble a team of consultants rather than selecting a single firm. However, we welcome participation from firms with proven skills and expertise in developing regional strategic plans.
We plan to interview finalists in early May and announce the team by early June
