CAP Welcomes Inaugural CCM Class

Coastal Alabama Partnership recently welcomed the inaugural class members to the Coastal Civic Masters Program(CCM). The program is designed to build a regional leadership coalition to promote the needs of Coastal Alabama, to provide leadership development for area leaders and to build community awareness for leaders of Coastal Alabama issues. CCM is the first regional leadership program in Coastal Alabama and was developed based on recommendations from the Coastal Recovery Commission Report in 2010.

Class members represent area businesses and non-profit organizations, with half from Baldwin and half from Mobile County. On February 24th, members networked at a Welcome Reception at the newly opened Dauphin’s restaurant. Several members of CAP’s Board of Directors joined the group to get a preview of the program. The class will join the annual trip to Montgomery to hear from State representatives, learn about regional and state-wide issues and participate in CAP’s annual Legislative Reception.

Subsequent sessions will take the class around our two county region, to Orange Beach, Bayou la Batre, Spanish Fort and Mobile. Topics that the group will cover include tourism, seafood industry, regional cooperation and strategic planning. Ultimately, the class will produce a white paper of recommendations to present to the CAP Board of Directors to facilitate future agendas for our region.
